Pioneering the Future Classroom: Oxford University Press Unveils OUPSA Digital Initiatives in South Africa

Oxford University Press (OUP) has taken a bold step into the future of education in South Africa by hosting four impactful digital launch events. These events served as a platform to introduce the OUPSA digital product offering, positioning OUPSA as a thought leader in education technology and the evolving landscape of learning.

Engaging over 400 educators, principals, ICT specialists, and government officials, the events were strategically held in key provinces, namely Johannesburg (Gauteng), Gqeberha (Eastern Cape), Durban (KwaZulu Natal), and Cape Town (Western Cape). The primary goal was to foster collaboration with educational stakeholders and showcase OUP’s advancements in the digital realm.

The program addressed pertinent EduTech concerns currently faced by South African schools and teachers, emphasizing the following themes:

  1. Nurturing Curiosity & Creativity in Learning through AI
  2. Coding & Robotics: A Skill of the Future
  3. Using Blended Learning Techniques in the Classroom
  4. Teaching Reading to the Digital Generation

The events featured distinguished South African EduTech consultants and key partners who are authorities in their respective fields. Notably, Nkisane Hlapolosa, Strategic Partner from MTN, joined OUP, highlighting the collaborative efforts that have expanded OUP’s outreach through a mobile subscription service.

As part of the showcase, educators were treated to a demonstration of Oxford Reading Buddy and were given the opportunity to explore Oxford EduZone Complete—an all-encompassing learning and teaching solution offering comprehensive content for learners. Resolute Education, OUP’s esteemed partner, also presented their joint Coding and Robotics offering, launched in August 2023.

To facilitate further engagement, OUP collected the details of interested delegates through a digital lead form, paving the way for follow-ups by OUP’s dedicated sales consultants. Additionally, attendees received a virtual goodie bag containing links to more information about the showcased products, along with a tangible goodie bag filled with product details, a wellness journal, and a travel mug.

Oxford University Press’s digital launch events in South Africa have not only heralded a new era in educational technology but have also underscored OUP’s commitment to shaping the future of learning and teaching in the country.
